As Dan and I still have not lived in Yacolt, Wa for an entire year, we can only guess what will crops we will successfully grow during the different seasons of the year. Everything we have done so far has had to be experimental because we have not experienced the possibilities in our Climate yet. Though, of course we have done our homework and we have made an educated guess and carefully planned out our crop trials. Also, we have to keep in mind that every year the weather will be different and that sometimes our success is not necessarily a function of the weather. So, we observe, take note and we don't forget to take other factors into consideration.
As fall officially ends tomorrow and our winter begins we are very excited to see that we can grow many different brazing and salad greens in the Fall. Some we have outside and some we have in our greenhouse. Though of course the growth rate is not fast, due to the short days and low temperatures. But we have indeed been able to eat and sell fresh greens up until now. The amount we have is limited this year, but we are excited to grow a lot more next year in our second greenhouse which we are planning to build this coming February.
As we enter the winter in the next few days I am looking forward to see what we can keep harvesting in the winter months. I hope we will be able to  surprise some people who may not think you can eat any fresh vegetables in Yacolt in the winter!
